RINTIK : Level Design

First Draft : Floor Plan

This game takes place in a village house (Rumah Kampung) which is Grandma's house. The area consist of Grandma's room (close area), Abi's room, living room plus dining room and front porch. 
The gameplay started when Abi woke up and walks to the Living Room. For this game, we agreed to make it as simple as possible with this one limited space. Player can go outside but only till front porch because the situation in this game is the area was happened to have flood and players cannot go any further unless they solved the puzzle which is escape using "sampan" that was provided in the game.


The first model of the house was made in Autodesk 3ds Max, which is for me is easy to use when it comes to level design or construct a buildings, houses, rooms etc and after that.

First Look : 



Before this updated version, there was no grandma's bedroom and there was a veranda but this is after we discussed again, this is the final updated level design for the house. When it comes to texture, I would send the model to Autodesk Maya to unwrap UV and texture it since I am more comfortable using Maya for that function.

This temporary model was placed in Unity for awhile so that our game programmer can do arrangement of furniture and camera angles as well as animation for certain part before replacing the complete tectured Rumah Kampung model and other props.

This is the look of the roof of Rumah Kampung which is made by zinc and the walls was made from woods.

For Rumah Kampung, it was hard if I made the house entirely in one piece of model so I discussed with my teammates if we can make the house part like a model kits. So that it is not hard to texture and they will not have any problems with it. After the texture is done, the house model was converted into FBX file and send to Unity to do arrangement for level design and furniture arrangement inside the house.

This is the upper floor plan from unity upper view. The arrangement of props shown so does the player's camera view and light sources.

After the models are textured, the arrangement of Level Design are made, the game progress will continue to animation and coding part as well as the whole game project progress. After completed, the game project file is ready to convert into exe file and play.
