Pixel Art Practise
For this project, I'm learning to make a pixel art using Photoshop and import them to Unity. The theme given was pirate theme so I decided to create
- Background Pirate Cave
- Environment props
- Character design - Pirate
As for the background, I had references side by side my art and tiles that I have created for 2d platform games. The end result will show you the whole scene of 2D platform games and a little bit of animations. I made a cave with two holes and I used various colors but still remain under 30 colors for background.
This is made in Photoshop.
Next, I planned to draw maximum 3 types of props that I can insert it in the background which is a ship pole with an old flag on it from a shipwreck, that I did not make for the background. A barrel which is one of the common item/prop for the theme of pirate. I also added skulls to decorate the caves.
The finale of the background will look like this. I used ship pole and skulls to decorate the background, the barrel will be on the platform tiles.

This is the design of the tiles will look like. This part has different colors because I wanted to match and outstand them from the background. It is more for the test and experiment before deciding the color for the tiles.

Character Design
Pirate Lady
First color idea of Pirate Lady
After that I compile all the frames and compile in one layer so I could import to Unity and sliced them, use them to animate in Unity.
Second and finale color of Pirate Lady
After designing it, I made an animation for the character movement. I made Pirate Lady went idle, her special movement and walking. I used Photoshop and played with timeline to get one by one frames for this pixel art animation.
After that I compile all the frames and compile in one layer so I could import to Unity and sliced them, use them to animate in Unity.

GIF of idle, special move, walking
After all of that done, I imported all of them in Unity and it will look like this as a platform pirate cave.
